SCANDINAVIAN SCRIBE:
Scandinavian scribe is a method where the round logs are made to fit each other exactly. A tool called a scriber is used to draw the contours and corners from the lower log onto the upper log. The upper log then is rolled over and a groove called a channel or lateral is cut its length. The saddle notch corners are cut and chiseled as well. When your house is re-erected on your foundation, a sealant is placed in the channel or lateral and saddle notched corners.

DOVETAIL
Dovetail houses have large logs that have a flat surface inside and out, giving a constant width. The top and bottom of the logs are left round. The log corners are then dovetailed together with compound dovetails. The spaces between logs is fitted with foam and then chinked with Perma-chink inside and out.
The chinking can be of a similar colour as the logs, or a different colour for contrast. The varied height of the logs and the irregular chinking create a charming hand crafted house.

CHINKED
Chinked log houses are similar to Scandinavian Scribe homes in appearance. The corners are the same saddle notched corners, but the chinked log has a space between logs the entire length of the wall. This space is then fitted with foam and Perma-chink applied inside and out. The Perma-chink can be close to the same colour as the logs or a different colour for contrast.

TIMBER FRAME HOUSES
Timber frames consist of timber post, beams, braces, purlins, and rafters joining together to make what is known as a bent. Picture a bent as being the shape or profile of a house. More than one similar or dissimilar bents are connected to make a house structure. Old barns are a great example of timber frame construction as well as its durability.
